A hole lot of fun, was had on the Brunswick River this morning for the first annual Donut Float. The idea was cooked up by the Bruns Bakery who were looking for an awesome way to celebrate the first anniversary of the new Bruns Bakery.
About 450 people registered for their special edition Bruns Donut (which is theirs to keep). At about 11 am this morning, they jumped in Simpsons Creek – near the pirate ship, with their donuts and floated on the incoming tide.
The tide took them under the road bridge, under the footbridge and onto the Scout Hall were they got out. Then some keen ones, ran back up to the pirate ship and did it all again.
Although the tide was timed perfectly, the head wind did slow things up a bit, but I don’t think anyone was in a hurry.
What a fun-filled way to enjoy the river. I’m sure there will be many more donut floats in the future. Thanks to the Brunswick Heads Surf Living Saving Club, patrolled the river, to make sure everyone was safe and of course the Bruns Bakery for organising such an awesome day. The Bruns Bakery will be making a generous donation to the Surf Club too.
